Event Registry’s Summer Roundup – Big Wins and New Features

The summer was long, hot, and busy! As everyone starts to gear up for the final quarter of the year, we're here to give you the inside scoop on what’s been happening behind the scenes at Event Registry. Welcome to the second edition of ER Pulse, where we share our milestones, celebrate successes, and keep you up to speed on the latest and greatest. The Numbers Don’t Lie: This summer, 11,851,437 requests were made on our platform (yes, we’re counting every single one!). Users spent a whopping 115,946 minutes on Event Registry—that’s nearly 81 days of constant engagement! We also welcomed 2,297 new user accounts from June 1 to August 31, enough to fill a medium-sized Broadway theater, like the Gershwin Theatre in NYC. Hello and welcome to the show! From Doctorate to Data: Celebrating Luis and Welcoming Erik!

At Event Registry, we’re all about growth, and this summer, we’re celebrating both personal and professional wins!

First up, our brilliant developer Luis Rei has earned his doctorate! Luis successfully defended his dissertation, titled "Machine Learning Methodology for Automatic Metadata Assignment in Cultural Heritage Archives," at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School. His groundbreaking research introduces an innovative method for categorizing cultural artifacts using machine learning, enhancing accessibility across languages and regions without the need for heavy expert annotation. This breakthrough doesn’t just advance machine learning; it’s set to revolutionize how we preserve and interact with cultural heritage. We couldn’t be prouder of Dr. Luis Rei—his dedication and expertise are invaluable to our team and the broader tech community. Let’s all raise a virtual toast to this incredible achievement!

But that’s not all – we’re also thrilled to welcome a new face to our team! Erik Novak, an AI/NLP researcher, has joined our ranks and is already making waves. With his extensive experience in Natural Language Processing, data analysis, and front-end/back-end development, Erik brings a wealth of knowledge that’s perfectly aligned with our mission to lead in media intelligence. We’re excited to see what Erik will accomplish with us, and we know he’ll help push the boundaries of what’s possible at Event Registry. Welcome aboard, Erik!

Two fantastic milestones, one amazing summer!

Spotlight on Partnerships: Stories of Innovation and Success

We’re thrilled to kick off a new blog series called "Meet the Partners," where we highlight the exciting collaborations shaping the future of tech. And trust us, our partners have plenty to say!

First on the list? Huawei Technologies Netherlands B.V. We had a great conversation about how they’re using our News API to transform their market research game. Their focus on humility, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement fits right in with our values, making it a match made in data heaven.

Want to know what they really think of working with us? (Spoiler: it’s all good things!) Check out the full blog here to see what they had to say about us.

Advancing with Graph-Massivizer: A Summer of Progress

This summer was packed with exciting developments for the Graph-Massivizer project, a European Union initiative aimed at simplifying massive graph processing and transforming overwhelming data into actionable insights. As a proud member of this project, we’ve been actively contributing to advancing its goals.

Our CEO joined the consortium in Dubrovnik for the first demo of several groundbreaking tools. Just last week, we received glowing feedback following an evaluation test, fueling even more momentum as we push towards the finish line.

Want to learn more about the Graph-Massivizer project? Visit their website graph-massivizer.eu or catch the Graph-Massivizer team in person at the European Big Data Value Forum this October in Budapest. Be sure to attend their sessions on tackling innovative data challenges and advanced lifecycle management—you won’t want to miss it!

What’s Next?

Our dev team is hard at work, improving the platform by fixing bugs and enhancing the overall user experience. The finishing touches are being added to the new UX and design, which we’re aiming to reveal towards the end of the year or at the beginning of the next one!

On the marketing and sales side, the teams have been equally busy—supporting new users, refining the onboarding process, and ensuring a smooth user journey. We’re putting in the work to make sure that Event Registry exceeds your expectations in every way!
